Anesthesiology Shadowing Program

 

If you would like to learn more about the wonderful field of anesthesiology, sign up to shadow an anesthesiologist! This experience should never interfere with your medical school commitments and should only be scheduled on your own free time.

 

We have shadowing opportunities in the OR, Pain Clinic, and Acute Pain Service (APS). Due to the number of M3s and M4s rotating through anesthesia, we are unable to accommodate requests for other specialties (cardiac, neuro, OB, peds, etc.). All shadowing assignments will be in the OR with the first available attending unless you request shadowing in the Pain Clinic or APS.

Details:

- Dr. William Manson is the faculty liaison for the AIG and Shadowing Program

- Lisa Morton is the Anesthesia Med Ed Coordinator who schedules each student

- Shadowing opportunities are in the afternoon only, with an arrival time of ~1:00pm

- You must submit a CV to Lisa before she will schedule a date for you

- This shadowing experience should never interfere with your medical school commitments and should only be scheduled during your own free time

 

 

If you want to shadow an anesthesiologist:

1. Email Lisa Morton at lm7cb@virginia.edu

2. Include your CV

3. Give her the days that you are available at about 1pm

 

 

In order to make the most of your shadowing experience, we recommend that you allow at least 3-4 hours on your assigned date.
